APPEARANCE: His height is 5'9”, his hair is dark brown and his eye color is brown. He wears hair gel in his hair and suits whenever he can. He has dimples, and scars, a headcanoned one on his right bicep (bullet graze), and another headcanoned one on his right pec (stab wound). He also now has a healing wound on his left hand in the middle of it from being shot there (happened in January 2017 in Drift Fleet). He often keeps his hands busy, kind of a nervous tic.

CANON HISTORY: I included headcanon-fleshing-out stuff and previous game stuff, if that's necessary. If not, feel free to skip to the link that says 'Canon History'.
Background: (Paragraph is largely headcanon, some inspired by things said in the movie.)
Arthur was born in the United States to a mother and father, with an older sister. His mother taught her children a great deal of things, such as languages, history, dancing, etc. She demanded perfection from them and ultimately alienated Arthur from them. At 18, he joined the army, earning an architecture degree at the same time. During that time, he participated in the dream sharing program, which was largely experimental back then. He got into dream sharing on the illegal side of it once out of the military, working with Dominic Cobb, his wife, Mal Cobb, and Eames throughout his criminal career.
Canon history
PG: (Previous game memories summarized)
(Arthur spent almost exactly a year in
driftfleet. His views on him being dateable have changed, he's a bit more accepting of weird things happening, and he's a bit more patient.)
On February 21 2016, Arthur was taken by the mysterious organization, Atroma, from his home world, into their universe, to take part in a reality television show in space. He was not particularly happy about it, but he dealt with it. He made some friends along the way, including Finrod, Max, Beverly. He became best friends with Syeira. Then he, Syeira, Finrod, and Maglor went on a hiking trip, and ran into a space dinosaur (basically.). Syeira died protecting them. Arthur was a little reckless, picking a fight with a vampire hunter because he felt guilty that he didn't save Syeira. After two weeks, she returned to living, and Arthur kissed her. He helped her recover through the trauma. They went on a date after she recovered, and after that, dated steadily and fell in love. She saved him in a fight, after his left hand got shot through.
CANON PERSONALITY:
Arthur is a no-nonsense sort of guy during work. He likes to get the job done and done right. He can be a bit comically serious and grumpy, such as when Eames knocks his chair back on its legs and he frowns at him. He's skeptical about a lot ideas. It's why Eames calls him a stick-in-the-mud. He doesn't believe that inception's possible, and he thinks Cobb will be lost at the end. He asks for the idea to be more specific (to which Cobb responds that it's not about being specific.) He also asks about the reconcillation of Robert to his father in the job, and Eames says 'I'm working on that, aren't I?' to which Arthur responds, 'Work faster.' Outside of that, he's actually pretty kind and easy to get along with, as well as having a sense of humor. He's easygoing with Ariadne in a test practice, chuckling when she thinks her subconscious is tame and says 'Just you wait.'. Arthur and Eames have a teasing banter throughout the movie (mostly on Eames' side) but Arthur surprises us and teases Eames later in the movie that he will lead the projections on a 'merry chase'. He does have a sense of humor, and he looks quite amused when Yusuf had to pee so it's raining in the dream, and Eames teases him. He's also got a softer side, that he shows briefly when he talks about Mal, saying she was 'lovely', and when he doesn't question Cobb further. He exhibits this softer side around Ariadne, too, making sure she's okay after she jolted awake during a session.
He's also exceptionally polite. In a dream with Ariadne, he actually excuses himself to a projection that he has to walk past, which leads me to believe he's exceptionally polite a lot of the time. He's very intelligent. He actually explains a good deal of the dream sharing concepts to Ariadne and the others. He's very knowledgeable in the dream sharing world, physics, and architecture. He's the explainer of the group, and the teacher. He explains how paradoxes work, what totems are, about closed loopsHe's also sort of a mentor to Ariadne. It's funny how Eames paints Arthur as an unimaginative stick-in-the-mud. Stick-in-the-mud he may be at times, but his imagination is what helped them get through inception. He figured out how to drop people (give them a “kick”, something that jolts them awake) without gravity, because the van on the first level of the dream was in freefall. He ended up making a people sandwich (stacking the people and keeping them together with phone wires), putting them in the elevator, and blowing up the cords so they're forced up. Another important quality is that he's very loyal. He follows Cobb around the globe, pretty unquestioningly, and still likes Cobb at the end after Cobb yelled at Arthur in front of the others for a mistake. Plus Cobb withheld information that could have made him lose his sanity. So that's pretty substantial that he's still friends with Cobb in the end.

JUSTIFICATION: In no certain order:
1) The emperor. Order, discipline, and Common sense are easy to connect with Arthur's attitude. He goes off what he knows, hardly ever takes a leap of faith, likes things in the way he knows them.
2) The chariot. Inflexibility, willpower, hard control are, again, easy to connect with Arthur. He thinks things should be done in a certain way, and doesn't relent a lot.
3) Strength. Self control, being solid, stability. Arthur is usually the second level dreamer because he usually has control, and is stable enough to keep the dream together.

The Aiya diner seems like a hospitable place to stop and take a load off, and so Arthur enters, sliding into a seat. It's mostly deserted by now, and it gives him time to think. It's incredible, liminal space. Like dream sharing almost. And to think, there's a dreamspace, too, even more like his dream sharing. Arthur finds it fascinating, and he's been trying every move possible to mess with gravity or physics, sometimes to the annoyance of his fellow Travelers. He's gotten a few 'That's creepy; stop that.'s with walking on the walls. But he can't help it. He's starved for this sort of thing, to learn the limits, to find out everything he can.
He's finding allies decently well, though he was never really good at talking to people. Syeira's much better at it, though she's also good at finding people and attaching to them, for better or for worse. He can't believe they ended up in the same place, but he's glad. He didn't think it could happen, but he's in love with her. She wormed her way into his heart, no matter how much he tried to deny it.
It's another place away from home, though. Another space farther on the game board from the end. As much as he finds this universe-hopping interesting, he would really rather not keep getting stuck in universes, having to start (almost) all over. Still, he was not one to shy away from hard work. He taps a finger on the table, decided now. He would just have to try harder to get a handle on this place.
